Took a bus to the boarder where we went through immigration to get our $25 visa on arrival, then after 6 hours arrived in Phnom Penh. I checked in to my hotel and then my tuk tuk driver took me to the killing fields and passed S21. There are a number of these killing fields/caves in Cambodia. However I believe the one in Phnom Penh was the largest of sites where numerous amounts of intellectuals, professionals and anyone who was connected with the previous government or foreign governments were killed under the Kmer Rouge, Pol Pot regime in 1975-1979. This is quite sad seeing that it took place directly after the end of their civil war. This had the same depressing feel as going to one of the German concentration camps and realising the terror humans are capable of.
After getting back to my hotel, I realised I am not too fond of Phnom Penh as got the same vibe as in Saigon. I'd decided to rather move on even though I had already paid for accommodation. I jemjust did not have a good feel about the place. So bought a bus ticket to Siem Riep. The tuk tuk picked me up around 22:30 and stopped to pick someone else up when I saw the dreaded "cow boys" I got to know in Saigon. They were eyeing out my bags, which got the tuk tuk driver nervous and after a long stare down they backed off. I got the bus and as soon as I boarded heard screams and commotion. A enquired what was going on and the local just uttered bag...immediately I thought they had followed me and my bag had been stolen from the bus...I ran to check and thankfully all there. Unfortunately though another lady got thrown to the ground and her bag snatched by yet more cowboys. I was relieved that I was on my way out of there.
