Was up at 7am, my helmet was stolen, but thankfully my bike was still there to take back. My $23 boat ticket included snorkelling, breaky and buffet lunch. At the snorkelling spot we "walked the plank" and jumped off the 9 meter high boat. I met a lovely group of Russians onboard and on the island.
Having heard this island (Koah Rung Saloem) is more deserted than Koh Rong itself I headed off in search of a safe haven for a couple of days. It was a really pretty beach with white sands and only a few development, but certainly already making plans to develop more. The island was really laid back.
I had a room that was built of bamboo and had an open view over the sea and the surrounding mountains. The island is full of jungle of course and as such had "explore me" written all over it! I attempted to get to the lighthouse with 2 French guys, however seeing that we needed machettess to get through at some points we called it quits after 4 hours. I then went from one side of the island to the other with an Expat local which took a good hour's trek through the jungle and was sure I had seen a Python on at least one occasion with monkeys and tropical birds flying through the tries above.
I went to see the sun set on the otherside of the island with some mates, I then decided I'd seen enough and wanted to go back, however half way the sun or lack thereof caught me. Was a rather scary trek through the darkening jungle. I made it out in one piece though and had a lovely evening in safety.
This was 2 days of bliss, just walking around the island having white soft sand beneath my feet, seeing amazing sun sets and ordering umbrella/coconut drinks...was a good way to recover from on-land Cambodian trauma.
I took the Ferry back to Sihanoukville and immediately booked my bus to Koh Chang in Thailand, it was time to get out of Cambodia and at this point, an hopefully never to return!
