The night bus to Sihanoukeville from Battambang went via Phnom Penh and arrived in Sihanoukville at 12pm.
I booked into my $1.50 accom which even had a pool, gym and 6 restaurants...go figure why don't they have those around more often?!
Enjoyed the beach here and had a reunion night out with some familiar traveller faces from Vietnam and new found Dutch friends. It was incredible that beer was 25c making it by far cheaper than water.
The following day the Dutch girls rented one bike for them and I another to go and find this apparently amazing waterfall which we rathe sadly never got to see in the end. It seems the cow bows were back "bigger and badder" then before...as we were driving down the dirt road the cowboys (2 robbers on a motorbike) emerged out of nowhere and grabbed at the Dutch girls bag and when they couldn't get it, pulled both of them off their bikes leaving them badly scrapped up and left me with no time to brake before hitting their bike. Once I was off my bike I had to run over to help the girls as a tug of war was still happening with their bags. Eventually after he managed to get the smaller bag with around $50 he jumped on the back of his mate's bike and rode off. Of course we turned around right there and then, back to perceived safety. I booked my ticket to Koh Rong Saloem (a close by safe island) immediately. That was by far my worst experience of my trip 'till now, God I got away fairly uninjured and with all my belongings still intact.
While I still had the bike I road off to the next beach, Otres Beach where Helen and her travel buddy was. Was good to see them again, I last saw them in Siem Riep after Vietnam.
Had my nails done at $3. Stayed at the hostel for the evening, there was no way I was going to go out again as thankfully I had everything that was needed close by.
