Day two of our Scotland trip still sees it warm enough to wear shorts. Today was Melrose Abbey and Rosslyn chapel whilst travelling from Hawick to Glenfarg. Melrose has to be one of the cleanest and tidiest towns around all thanks to a group of volunteers who weed and clean up around the town. The Abbey itself was very popular and well worth a visit given its history.
Whilst everyone has seen Rosslyn in The Da Vinci Code what makes it more impressive is the work done on it over the last few decades to turn it into a working chapel from what was almost a windowless ruin. Even more so how the Hollywood team managed to film around it and not show the fact it was covered by a large metal roof. An interesting observation at Rosslyn was the Kangaroo at the bottom of one of the stained class windows and the fact that the cafe serves Bundaberg Ginger Beer and a proper flat white coffee. I think there must be someone in the management structure of the place from Aust.
Of course today's trip included going over the Firth of Forth bridge, dinner was at the Belgedie Toll pub and breakfast included black pudding.
