Another chance to wander around a great little Germany town, especially given the fantastic warm weather. The downside is that we have finished the cruising component of the tour and now onto Paris. I have to say I enjoyed the many little towns we went through whilst in Germany. Whilst quaint is probably an off used term it does really describe what these towns do look like. Whilst I wouldn't want to live in the major cities I reckon I could live in one of these...

Final stop for the cruise..bummer. Here we just grabbed the bus for a visit to Trier.

Another walking tour followed by wine tasting. Bernkastel is famous for "Dr Wine", apparently a brew of medicinal qualities. The statue in the photo is dedicated to it and the photos of the cellar door are from the actual winery. Whilst the town obviously is set up for tourist the prices are great compared to home for food and drinks (I'm sure there is another rate for the locals). Short stop this morning and just had a walk around the town before cruising the Mosel River down to Bernkastel. Quite nice to have another relaxing morning just cruising and lunching.

This morning was spent cruising the Rhine Gorge and it was pretty impressive and you can see why it is UNESCO listed. Wineries basically from the rivers edge to the top of the hills. In places so steep that they have special ladders and rails to allow picking (all done by hand). The unfortunate bit for anyone following the blog is that I have it all on video and no photos.
