The day started at around 0340 when the fire alarm at the hotel went off. Apparently water had got into part of the system from all the rain we had been having.
The plan had been to go via Culloden but it was chucking it down and over the radio we were hearing that many of the roads we had been over the previous day we closed from flooding and mud slides. In the end we headed straight to Aviemore and the Cairngorms Brewery.
This turned out to be a winner as the tour guide was brilliant (as were the 12 beers we got to taste). Bruce was an old Scotsman who, aside from telling us about the brewery and the brewing process, regaled us with tales from his time as an extra in the movie Highlander.
We stayed at a very nice B&B (The Old Ministers House) just on the edge of Aviemore with the intent to go and visit the local wildlife park, however many of the roads in the area were closed due to flooding so it was a relaxing afternoon then off to the local Italian restaurant for dinner
