Today's drive involved lunch at Warnammbool which was a picnic in the park that turned out to be fun. J & C had fun playing on a big round rope swing.

We spent the afternoon in the historical village down by the marina where they have recreated a working marine village. There's a blacksmith, a boat builder, dressmaker, cooper, rope maker, medical officer's residence, gaol and boats (of course). J tried to pick up everything: massive chain links, some wood blocks using old pullies, and pieces of lead ballast - OMG they were heavy. I did not know but there are 700 boat wrecks off the coast here! This was an important shipping lane in the 19th and early 20th centuries and the approach to Bass Strait is a treacherous. The entrance to the village involves a fee and a theatrette show which was a dramatization of a real diary kept by a steerage passenger - it was good.

Peterborough is a tiny little seaside village at the start of the Great Ocean Road. I love it. The van park is great. We bought some prawns from the office and tried our luck in Curdies Inlet which is right at the back of the park. Dinner at the Motel across the road was fun but quite slow in coming such that everyone was in dire straits with hunger before it arrived. The melodramatics of teenagers is entertaining sometimes…
