A domestic sort of day - haircuts and laundry. Amanda and I took the bikes out along the path we found yesterday to find a pleasant park along the side of a creek. We stopped to use the dodgy exercise equipment in the park, laughing more than exercising I think. We saw a young man crash his bike! He was coming downhill and turning at the same time as talking to his Mum on the phone. Too much speed for the turn. He hurt his hands and we assisted as best we could. He was pretty badly shaken but able to continue on home.
The highlight of the day was dinner and trivia at a place called Anglers with Zac, Liana and Jessie. We drove over to their corner of town which is called Moonee Ponds. The place was rather like a pub in atmosphere and we sat in a semi-outdoor section where the trivia was on. It sounds like an odd idea - the trivia bit - but it was actually fun. Jessie won a jug of beer from the trivia! The food was good and really huge servings.
Zac has grown into a very tall athletic young man who is just the image of his father - only taller. His mannerisms and sense of humour particularly. Liana is smart and organised and still has the same happy personality I can remember from when she was only a child. Jessie has also grown very tall and he's broader than Zac. Zac has come down to Melbourne largely to play rugby for a club here (I forget the name…), Liana is studying at Melb Uni and Jess has come along to look for work. They seem like a happy bunch of young people just getting out and enjoying the world. Zac and Liana told a few stories about their memories of J & C as little kids. We all laughed and the conversation flowed. Except for the late hour, we would have stayed together longer.
