Day 2
After a big breakfast with George and Sue (the B&B owners) and a photo outside for their LEJOG album, we headed off to start it all again. The first few miles were down hill on the A39 over the Camel Trail. The saddle found the painful rut it had started yesterday, but the legs felt ok. We turned off onto the country lanes and headed for Boscastle for our first stop of the day. The road in was fantastic! All down hill and wide enough to go flat out, the road out was then of course all up hill with Ruth and I grovelling to maintain momentum. Once on the main road though our speed picked up again and we cruised the next 15 or so miles to Bude for to get lunch by the beach.
After lunch the sine curve resumed with avengence. The best/worst being the 25% decline where we hit our top speed of 45mph followed by a 20% incline which had us off and pushing.
We had planned to make it to Ruth's Grandparents house in Somerset today. More realistically though we have stopped just out side South Molton and plan to have a shorter day tomorrow to Somerset.
Ruth is now out of the shower, so it's my turn now, then, pub...
