After a good night's sleep in our own bed and a big breakfast, we got on our way at about 10am (getting out takes a lot longer when you have to feed and clear up after yourself). The going was good and flat for the day and we made good progress into Cheshire. The day was uneventful and easy going, the inner chainring got hardly any use at all.
We had a stop at the Penny Farthing Cafe in Knutsford, where we found a LEJOG sign (see photo).
We booked somewhere to stay in Leigh and got underway again. The miles passed quickly, but the gears started playing up after a chain jam. When we arrived at out dual carriageway side hotel, I checked it out to find a bent chainlink. I replaced this but found bigger problems with the chainring.
We are currently (9:50am 16/9/10) stood in a bike shop in Leigh, with fingers crossed, hoping it can be quickly sorted...
Granddad Bad luck! We knew you'd regret not having a following team with spare bikes etc.

Naomi Oh no! I'm hoping you've got it sorted? At least it's something repairable. The break will give your bums a little rest too. Hopefully you'll be cosied up in a bed plenty of miles north of that bike shop! Xxx
