Day 31 - Cooktown, QLD
Friday 13th November
Big day driving. We had originally planned to camp at Musgrave Roadhouse again and then set off from here through the lake field national park for a look. After a bit of discussion we decided we were sick of one night stays and would prefer to go and setup in a place and stay for a few days and relax and do some day trips if we felt like it. That being the case we pushed on, and with Milly's croc phobia getting worse by the day, when the bloke at the quarantine station mentioned crocs everywhere in Lakefield National Park and started telling stories of attacks, that National Park was quickly of limits for this trip! We set our sights on Cooktown and kicked up some dust a bit more before stopping at the Hann River roadhouse to cleanse the dry pallette with a ice cold froffy! Just one though as the day was getting long and a shower at Cooktown was beckoning!
We arrived in the dark which we haven't done for a while but setting up is pretty quick now we've had some practice. When we rolled into the park the caretaker took us for a walk and said this is the spot and we looked up and guess who was right next door! Matt, Rachel and Sonny. Once setup we filed through the dip and got spruced up and walked 15 metres from camp to a little Italian restaurant where I devoured a pizza and Milly enjoyed a risotto which could have fed the caravan park (leftovers for lunch tomorrow)
