After an efficient camp pack up we were ready to hit the road and wave farewell to lovely Lawn Creek Gorge. But not before jumping in for one last quick dip and jump starting our neighbours truck.
Our plan was to make it to Normanton, just over 400km away. Along the way we stopped in at the Bourke and Wills Roadhouse - it was full of locals with their glad rags on and we remembered that it was Melbourne Cup day, however, the race that stops the nation couldn't stop us and we rolled out of there and on towards Normanton.
Our first port of call was to Leichardt Lagoon Camping park (about 26km southeast of Normanton. It was a very quirky block with plenty of hand painted signs - one of those places that is equal measures funky and freaky. But as it was still hot as b*****y and the place was fairly barren and dusty we decided to drive on into Normanton. Once settled with a campsite at the Normanton tourist park ($13 pp, per day) we decided to explore the town a little bit. Jed was hoping to spot a salty down in the Norman river but no luck, what did amaze us though was the prevalence of box jelly fish!
