My friend Sloan emailed me and asked what a typical day is like for us, so here it is. We wake up late and whoever feels like it walks the few blocks to town to get the baguette and pastries for the day. After a late breakfast we read, play cards, and sit outside on the patio in the sun. Current gin score, Lucy 475, Wendy 73. She asked me if I was embarrassed to be losing so badly to a 13 year old and I told her I was going to come back. I'm the tortoise not the hare. Around 1:00 my time, 7 a.m. your time I skype with David and Arch to see how they are doing, and what upcoming things they have at school and work. On Tuesdays I skype with my class during their computer time, and yesterday I was the mystery (skype) reader for David's class. Everything closes in town between 12 and 2 for a lunch break. We eat our lunch from the market then and then have more reading, homework, blogging, emailing, and cards. Late afternoon we head out for our afternoon walk. We open the door and decide to either head left or right. We might end up in town, at the park, or finding something new. Dinner is around 8. We have downloaded a couple of movies on our laptops. I watched Catch and Release with Jennifer Garner last night and thought it was great. But we haven't watched t.v. in 5 weeks and I haven't blow dried my hair in 5 weeks either. Lucy and I are like college roommates. We don't have a dishwasher so we share the washing duties. We share a bathroom so we are considerate of keeping the sink area clean. We go to bed at the same time and wake up at the same time. She plays her music for me and has taught me how to download songs for free from youtube. Some may call it boring, some may call it rejuvinating.

Jennifer Glad to hear things are going well! Lu, I'm so proud of your gin score..... And school sounds neat. I'd love to wake up in the morning and walk to get pastries and baguettes-sounds so fresh! Miss y'all. Xoxo, jbw :-)
Lucy As a side note, on Wednesdays and Saturdays when there is the market our day is different, because we have to get up a lot earlier and we do a lot of walking and exploring all around the market. And also two or three times a week now I go to school so I have to get up REALLY early for that!
Lucy Thanks jen! I learned from the best... :) Miss you!
Gina F. It doesn't sound boring to me at all! I think it sounds HEAVENLY! The best part has to be hanging out with each other sans t.v. and all of the other mindless distractions. I'm dying to become part of your daily exploration, so tomorrow head out the door left and make two right turns somewhere and let me know what you find! I'll be waiting...
Wendy Gina,I so wish that would be true!! We would have some wine and laugh and laugh and laugh. But since you can't come here, how about we do that back in Richmond? I've realized that you don't have to go far away to have fun...you just have to make time. So it's a date, we'll order pizza with the kids when I get back. Miss you. Wendy
Sloan What a great schedule! When in your life will you get to do this again, especially with your baby girl! What a blessing
Wendy Probably never again! It is a very special time. Thanks Sloan
