Wednesday and Saturday are market days here in Loches. The streets close and there is everything from clothes, to food, to jewelery, to flowers, even a man to help fix your weedeater! We purchased local goat cheese, a yellow mum for the patio, fresh raspberries, local honey, a jacket for Lucy, and a rotisserie chicken that we made into chicken salad for lunch. It's sort of like going to walmart - ok not at all - but what I mean by that is it is one stop shopping. You can get most anything you need from the market and it feels nice to support the locals. We were doing well with our franglaise until the goat cheese man asked us something really fast. Our eyes got really big and there was this awkward silence. The lady at the next booth said, "he wants to know if you want to eat this today or later?" And so the goat cheese we were getting will be good today through the month. If we wanted it not until next month I guess we would get a different cheese. So much to learn

Amy Wendy, I am so happy for you and your sweet daughter. What a great experience. I just sent my daughter, Caroline off to college and it has been so sad! We went to Paris and Rome this summer together just the two of us and had the best time. It was difficult to figure everything out but we loved every minute of it. I am so excited for you and your daughter and i will follow you on this great blog! Love, Amy Ludwin
Wendy Thanks Amy! So good to hear from you. Where did your daughter go to college. Exciting and sad for a mom I'm sure. Wendy
kelly Ellis Haha...a Walmart??? Well at my Walmart no one speaks English so I can relate......But honestly, what Walmart has goat cheese? I am laughing out loud!
Maury The same is true for the fruit sellers. If you ask for a melon or peaches or such they will often ask when you want to eat it. Also I hope that the peach tree in the garden is doing well and that you all enjoy eating them.
