We left Dulles at 5 p.m. and flew overnight to Toulouse, France. Not easy to sleep on an airplane and we were very jealous of the first class people who could stretch out! Maybe some day... Anyway we got our rental car in Toulouse and drove to Carcassone, France. Here we are staying at Chateau Canet a working vineyard. It is unbelievable! I feel like I am in the movie Eat, Pray, Love, or something. We have been drinking wine constantly and learning about the process of making wine. They also have olive trees here, so there are many delicious olives and olive tapenade. So good! We are staying in a two bedroom gite (cottage) and each morning they bring us fresh croissant and pain chocolate (chocolate croissant). We are with a big group, 14 children, and 14 adults. The children are getting along famously. Most of the other children live in London and they are all about our kids ages of 10 and 13. The London children all speak a minimum of 2 languages fluently, but most 3! It is amazing to be around such worldly people. We are learning so much, and feeling very language deprived! Today we went on a long walk through the vineyards and came back for a white wine tasting. We then sat down to a lunch of lamb roasted over a spit fire with wine and we finished off with chocolates made to taste with wine. Swimming followed, and then nap time. Tonight we will go in to Cite Midevial for a dinner and treasure hunt. I will write more tomorrow. I can't even begin to describe how special it is here. We are in heaven.
