Hardly dry from our Fraser Island trip we bombed it back down to Brisbane airport for our new years celebration in Sydney! We arrived back into sydney early morning were we met up with the lads from Kiwi bus who had also flew in that morning. we all trooped to the irish girls flat where we would be setting up camp for the next two nights. The 4 person flat was full to the brim with 16 people, thats irish hospitality for you!!!!
The day was spent with some of us making our way down to Coogee beach were we had lunch and a catch up with everyone. The evening was spent in the pool, jaccuzzi and preparing the booze and food for the next day-new years eve baby! whooooooooooooo
After a sleepless night from STU snoring! we were up bright and early to claim our spot in Blues point Park! Armed with tents, food, alcohol and giddiness we made our way to the park, collecting some of Bennetts friends along the way-Tom and Craig! Determined not to have our alcohol taken away -we arrived just in time to beat the barriers, sneaky sneaky!
We set up camp directly in front of the Harbour with an amazing view of the bridge and the Opera House in the background, dangling our feet into the harbour-amazing! The day was spent catching up with everyone and topping up on the tans! As the day wore on we were joined by yet more people and by sunset we had a crew of 32!!! We decided that 4pm would be a good time to start drinking, meaning we would still be capable of seeing the fireworks that we had all travelled so far to see! The hours passed really quickly with hourly entertainment from boats and planes flying over head! lots of time was also spent battling the crowds to use the toilets! after a few attempts-we had the genius idea of turning our booze tent into our own personal toilet-haha! DONT JUDGE US YOU WOULD HAVE DONE THE SAME! ;)
As 12pm approached we were not dissapointed, as light shows from the array of boats in the harbour and the bridge lit up the night sky! When 12pm finally came we were treated to the best fireworks any of us had ever seen, coming from all directions and lasting a good 25mins! amazing! and definitely worth the trip and the 12 hour wait! finding it very difficult to describe just how beautiful it was so you will have to check out the photos to see how Sydney treated us to the best new years eve we have ever had!
