The drive up to Coffs harbour was the first time that we have been really wowed by Australian scenery as we saw some lovely lakes and mountians along the way as we past through Newcastle and Taree - we were driving at sunset so the light was casting a lot of shadows and one lake we crossed over had such still shimmery water it reflected the moonlight - was just gorgeous! Bennett was an absolute trooper as she was driving and she took us 550 km to get us to Coffs harbour so we could have two full days in the pretty seaside harbour town.
Our first morning weas spent with a newly purchased BOOGIE BOARDS! Safe to say we nearly all drowned many times and we def recommend in hindsight to wear a swimming costume rather than a bikini - tops and bottoms fell down lots! ;) BUT as per usual the three os us could not stop giggling! Great morning! In the afternoon we visited the place that Coffs is famous for - The Big Banana complex - Australia is not allowed to import bananas so Coffs harbour was the main place to grow them. They now have a huge concrete banana as the focal point and a nice sky walk up through the plantations to a coffs coast look out. Bennett had a banana milkshake with round joining her and D having a yep you got it banana flavoured ice cream!
We def learned a lot about bananas that day but after about an hour we felt that we had seen enough yellow herbs (yep they are not even fruit)!!! and decided to make like a banana and split!
(bad joke we know)!
We then went down to the harbour beach jetty and saw all the boats and went for an afternoon sunbathe on harbour beach with a lovely view of Mutton island where lots and lots and lots of birds live and there is a walkway to get across which we attempted to climb up to watch the sunset but as usual our time keeping isnt the best and we didnt make it up the hill - so doing that before we leave for Byron Bay this evening!
This morning we have all had a surf lesson DUDE!- our first ever surf lesson with some ozzi DUDE we called Lee Winkler (apparently he is a pro). We all got on really well but very tiring - much more knackering than we thought but we are apparently ALL natural DUDES as we managed to stand up within the first ten minutes - GO KATES - So the next few hours were spent learning how to get the board over the waves to get back out and learning how to stay with the wave so your not left behind - very technical terms there!!!! :)!!! ha ha! We have footage to prove that we can stand up but not only can we stand but we can ride the waves bro! WOOP WOOP! Infact one could say we are all practically perfect DUDES at standing up on our surf boards in every way! ha ha! AMAZING! Def doing it again prob tomorrow in Byron the hedonistic backpacker destination and we have been told it is party party party! woo woo woo!
Catch you later dudes!
PS this computer is rubbish no way we can upload pictures so will do that soon
