Melbourne May 2009
New layout – as we are just working and doing everyday things key events and fun time will be talked about!
Friday 1st – Wednesday 6th May
Bit off a cool start to the month with a trip to the cinema to see the new star trek film by JJ Abhrams WOW!!!!!!!!! Thought star trek was just for geeks but that was really cool let’s see some more please. On Saturday 2nd we had a day out at the aquarium with Mary & Marika, the penguins were very inquisitive and some of the fish there were pretty cool and we had lots of fun. The coolest fish was the leafy dragon the funny looking one on the Afterwards we had some food and ice cream together back at the flat before meeting new house mates from Ireland Jenny and Liam.
Thursday 7th – Friday 15th May
Wolfie had a night out at the footy with Paul on Friday to watch the Essendon v Hawthorn game. Paul barracks for Hawthorn and they got battered was funny to watch! After the game we went off to a nearby pub and had a few drinks meeting up with pru from work and her fella who supports Essendon and rubbed it in a little.
By the middle of May Melbourne was starting to cool average daily temperatures of 14-15’c are now common. Saturday 9th was no different we spent the day at the market, Corinne shopped for Wolfie’s present and we just relaxed a little getting to know Liam and Jenny.
Lots and lots of work this week. For Wolfie he was doing in-charge shifts on days being again responsible for 32 patients and 8 staff members and chatting to the doctors.
Saturday 16th – Sunday 17th - see Halls Gap blog entry
Monday 18th – Tuesday 19th May
A couple of days in work that ended on Tuesday evening with a trip to St Kilda for a cold rock ice cream and a viewing of the penguins which are just well cool and it must have been the special time of year for them cause they were getting a little close. Afterwards we got a nando’s and DVD.
WOLFIE’S BIRTHDAY - Wednesday 20th May
A busy birthday day for Wolfie started with us going up to the carlton brewhouse for the tour of the brewery. On the way we grabbed a bacon butty and big m and then we joined the tour. It was full of school kids but it was fun listening to them before funny and what they found funny. As always the best part of the tour is watching all the little empty bottle shuffling along the conveyable belt then getting filled and capped and becoming a BEER!
Whilst taking the free drinks in the bar afterwards Wolfie knocked the display and part of an old beer barrel fell 10ft missed the head by an inch and cracked on the shoulder. The people came rushing over and gave us extra beer so by 1130am Wolfie was nice and slighty tipsy! We bought a few bits from the shop got an extra cap thrown in (VB one).
For lunch we headed to Lygon Street in the Italian quarter and had a nice big slap up meal with a couple of glasses of wine was very nice. Corinne was feeling all a little bit left out so Wolfie bought her a nice new jumper from Jetty Surf then we headed off to the arcade! Back at the flat Wolfie opened all the birthday cards and parcels sent thanks everyone (especially the Liverpool bits.) Corinne got Wolfie lots of cool presents and before to long it was time to get showered for our evening out at Cirque de Soiel. It was over by the docklands by the Westgate bridge was pretty cool, some of the acts and stunts were just unbelievable. So the show left us gob-smacked and afterwards we left for the flat tired from the long fun day.
Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd May
Work again Thursday and Friday with Wolfie doing his first day shifts in-charge on his own pretty scary. Friday night we had a HUGE night out with the nurses from work at a bar called setindo funf and then another place which we can’t remember! But it was a good night and a whole lot of fun we got in around 0300ish and passed out on the bed.
Saturday 23rd – Sunday 31st May
The quite weekends in started for saving money for Tasmania which is coming up fast. Corinne did however score a new pair of UGG boots from town and Wolfie won nurse of the month for May as voted by the patients, parents and staff.
