Sorry pictures are starting to get repetitve now, but no computers have USB to allow me to upload pictures!! I will keep searching though.
Got on a Bus from Mount Abu at 8:30am for the 5 hour journey to Udaipur. Now this bus journey was very rough for the majority of the last 3 hours or so as there were new roads being installed which meant only one thing for us, No Roads!! It was a case of off roading through desert and dust but after a while you get used to the bone shaking ride. All in all was a comfortable bus with plenty of room and no complaints with it to be honest, much like the train was quite impressed at how quick the journey appeared to take.
When we arrived in Udaipur went and found the hotel which Mount Abu hotel had recommended and booked in to a deluxe room!!! Check me out living the luxurious lifestyle. This room did only cost 140rs mind you so tought it was worth indulging in a bit of luxury whilst it was soo cheap. The room was incredible and the reason I say this was because it was clean. Nothing else special about it, just your standard run of the mill travelodge type place from back home, with a bed, tv and bathroom, however for me this was paradise due to the clean smell and appearance of the place.
The following day went for a walk around Udaipur and got chatting to a chap in a jewllers who offered us a Chai. This chap was a spiritualistic type (as are most in India, have to say I do appear a bit out of place here!!) and straight away stated that he sensed Jules and Myself had met in India and more specifically in Delhi, this was before we had even mentioned where we had been!!! He then went onto offer a chai and again stated that mine would be with milk but no sugar..... Bit weird or maybe just a good sales pitch but anyway friendly enough chap.
Went to visit the lake with the famous picture of the hotel in the middle. In the pictures this 'lake palace hotel' looks incredible, now dont get me wrong it was a nice lake, but then so is ditchling common if you like fishing, dosen't mean I would promote it as a tourist site!! No in all seriousness it was nice, but a bit of a dissapointment to what the photo displays in the books, this may be due to some of the river drying up mind you so maybe I am being unfairly harsh! This lake was however where the scene from Octup**** (James Bond) was filmed so although dissapointed with lake I still loved the fact it was from a James Bond film and the streets were where the AutoRickshaw chase took place in the film also. Went to a plush restaurant that night as it stated it had lake views and a nightly showing of Octup**** Forget the lake views get me a front row seat for the film. Had a nice Curry!! Surprise Surprise, together with a beer which was served up in a teapot and mug to fool the local constabulary into thinking it was merely a Chai, Ah Sneaky Sneaky........ Stayed for entire duration of film and then got an Auto ride home. This Auto driver was insane, easily the fastest one I have been in so far and totally out of control!! He kep saying 'ah yes, me James Bond Zero Zero Seven..... Not double O seven, but Zero Zero Seven, haha what a lunatic. He ended up offering us tour of city in morning, but agreed to have his services to take us to the train station in the evening instead for the train to Sawia Madhopur.
Next day just a slow paced day where I decided to venture back into town and have a walk about. Had chai and more spicy food with locals and watched a wedding procession go past. Had some more spicy Thali on way back to hotel when all I wanted was a potato cake, oh well was nice anyway and the swarms of flies, and I mean serious amounts of flies and creatures around the food could only indicate it was tasty grub so tucked in.
Zero Zero Seven arrvied bang on time, and offered to get us to station in seven minutes!! I said I would settle for getting there alive, and yet he seemed to set himself little challenges to try and beat. We were flying past cars, buses and motorbkes all in this lttle Rickshaw, MADNESS. Now to await the train for Sawai Madhopur.
