Today we got up at sun rise and headed toward the Daintree rainforest we had to cross a big river on a car ferry. We arrived at the discovery centre around the rainforest where we could go on board walks and up tall buildings to see the rainforest we saw, birds, butterflies, lizards, trees, and a lot more. We saw a lot of vine raped around trees and hanging out of nowhere. We also saw all different types of plants and trees that are nowhere else in the world. We also had a remote each that we could listen to imfomation on. We weren't lucky enough to see a cassowary. After that we went and got ice creams from a shop 4 flavour ice cream shop, the flavours were coconut, wattleseed, Davidson Plum and yellow sapote. My favourite was the Davidson Plum because it was sweet and tangy. After we left the ice cream shop we went on a rainforest walk and we found a thick vine that hung down and then went back up like a U shape and we swung on it. Then we had lunch and went for a drive to a river where only I swam. Then we drove some more, we were going up and down very steep hills. Then we arrived at Ayton and went to a waterfall, it was very very big. Then we went back and on the way back we saw up ahead there were a few cars stopped on the road waiting for a cassowary and its baby. We were so excited to see one in the wild. All the roads have signs warning of cassowaries crossing and the speed limit is slow so that cars don't injure them. Did you know that the female cassowary is a lot bigger than the male and also the female cassowary lays the eggs and then leaves while the male stays and looks after the chicks?
