Time Leaving: 9:45 a.m. Temp: 57 degrees and sunny
Total miles since Clayton - 8,500
We had a real nice drive South into Bremerton, where we'll stay at Illahee State Park while we visit with our Grandson Justin, who is stationed at the Naval Base in Bangor. He's here with their sub, the USS Buffalo, waiting for dry dock to decommission it. This can take up to a year and a half for completion. It will be great to see him again.
Arrived our site at 1:20 with a couple of stops and what a beautiful site we have - tall trees, lots of shade and very quiet. Only 23 sites in this whole park.
We get all set up and then drive down to the beach, walk out on the pier and WHAM, there's Mt. Ranier, a great view right from the pier. That was unexpected. We also saw one lone Canada Goose swimming along by the pier.
Arrive Illawhee State Park, Bremerton, WA
How long staying: 5 nights
Next stop: Newport, Oregon
