Temp: 32, Overcast High 48
States Today: Alaska
Saying for the day: You may have to fight a battle more than once to win it.
We are watching almost everyone leaving the campground today. Their Memorial Day holiday is over. We met two couples who were our neighbors here in the campground, who live in Alaska and are with the AFB (Elmendorf) in Anchorage. They were originally from TN, NC, and FL. We all decided to keep in touch.
We walk along a glacier gravel bed and find some really unique rocks, animal tracks, and some scat we can't identify. It's really, really cold out here in the gravel bed, with lots of water rivulets to walk through.
There are lots of Willow bushes and a lot of the p**** willows coming out. The Snowshoe Hare eats the bark off of the Willow, a winter staple for them.
Madame Denali is again in the clouds and snow. I don't think we'll be graced with her beauty today either. We have one more chance, tomorrow morning before we leave, as well as on the way to Anchorage.
How long staying: 1 more night
