So, yesterday's repair action for them that's interested......
Cyndy turned up at around 5 as promised.....complete with gas gun and impact screw driver. All to no avail, the screws wouldn't budge.
So, plan B was to send Ali up the mast to disconnect the forestay, allowing it to be lowered to the pontoon.
As Cyndy was in charge, Ali agreed.
With the screws on the pontoon to be thumped, surely they'd give in. Nope.
So, the only option was to attack the polypropylene cap at the top of the foil, to allow the old furling gear to be slid off, and the new one slid on. It took about an hour to mutilate it.
Then it was a matter of finding Ali, hauling her whimpering back up the mast with strict instructions not to drop "the" pin wot holds the mast up, or the split pin wot holds the pin wot holds the mast up. The forestay was hauled back up, and secured. Gold star Ali.
Still haven't put sail on due to strong winds, so don't know if Aok yet.
