The beautiful morning turned into a sunny day, although the promised force 3 to 4 wind didn't arrive and it didn't go to the south until mid- morning.
Still we made good progress with a combination of engine and sail (sometimes both of them - a rare event on this adventure). The silence was nice when skip turned off the engines after 12 hours.
The tide finally gave up on us this afternoon in the eastern Solent. So we gave up too and we're now moored for the night in Wootton Creek on the Isle of Wight near Ryde. We're pretty chuffed, 3 long days to get back from Sheppey, so even if the gale does win in the end, at least we can now get on a bus home!
Not sure what tomorrow will have in store for us. A gale is forecast to arrive before we can get back to Poole.

A fellow adventurer Well done you!
Ian P-S Bet you're missing the lion and the witch already. Well done.
Simon & Lorraine Ah ha - so the 'cunning plan' included you two wild rockers taking in the Isle of Wight Festival! Few tips to help you fit in - wear your trousers perched precariously on your butt cheeks, pretend you've spent the last 3 weeks going to bed at 4am, not getting up, and leave the folding chairs and knee rugs in a locker on the boat! Loved the blog and the adventures, but glad you're safely back in home waters.
