Now in a place called Huaraz, slightly run down as repairing itself from an earthquake, but surrounded by amazing landscapes and mountains which is its main appeal. So with this in mind thought I would do a spot of mountain biking with Rose, Jo and Jennie. After hiring mountain bikes, boarded a ´local´VW bus (amazing how many people can fit in one of them!), mountain bikes on top, then started the ascent into a town in the mountains, After survivng the bus journey, we then needed to get a cab to take us to the lagoon near the summit. Well picture this (remember there are very few if any road laws here!), so one saloon car, 4 girls, one driver and 4 mountain bikes and rucksacks. Seats down there were 3 bikes in the back with me and rose in compromising positions, jo and jennie in the front seat and the driver , with a bike on the roof! After reaching the lagoon, which was so stunning, especially with the snow capped mountains in the background, you were left to you own devices to return! 5 hrs down steep mountains, attacked by wild dogs, donkeys and bulls we arrived back to a town where we had to get us all back in a cab! Needless to say we were shattered, so today is a much needed day of rest before we move on tomorrow x
