Murramurrang National Park - entry fees apply and can be purchased at pay stations within the national park. Both trails are marked with informative signage.
Durras Discovery Trail
This is an easy to medium grade, 1.5 km loop walk.
The walk meanders through remnant rainforest that is classified as an endangered ecological community in New South Wales. The area contains some of the biggest spotted gums on the south coast, thought to be about 300 years old. There is also remains of logging equipment used by forresters when the area was supplying timber to Sydney during the early 1900s.
Rainforest Walk, Depot Beach
This is an easy grade, 400m loop walk.
This is a littoral rainforest, protected by the sheltered gully of the creek-line at Depot Beach. The understory of spotted gums is made up of mostly burrawang palms. Fallen logs are nurseries to seedlings and fungi.
The sound of cicadas (and there were hundreds on the gum trees) was deafening.
At the end of this trail, it is a short walk down to Depot Beach.
