Taree to Lismore (432 km)
The main reason for our trip to Lismore is the New South Wales Closed State Karting titles and much of our time has been spent at the Lismore Kart Club.
We spent some time exploring Rotary Park near the Lismore CBD. The park is a "genuine rainforest remnant" according to the Lismore tourist brochure and is home to a variety of fauna and flora including hoop pines, giant fig trees, and fruit bats. As we walked beneath the canopy the street noise was replaced by a cacaphony of bird noise which we originally thought were ducks or geese. Actually turned out be to white ibis roosting in the trees. The track through the park is well marked but sturdy walking shoes are a definite must especially after rain as the track and tree roots are slippery in some places.
Accommodation: Lismore City Motel, 129 Magellan St, Lismore
