We are Sailing
We were up early this morning, as we wanted to go and see the sights. But before we go there, I need to tell you about Hosay, the Spanish Architect. He is a running joke with us, and it goes back to our second day in Athens. The taxi driver was not happy with Greece's debt situation, as and as he was taking us past the Olympic Stadium, he was saying what a waste of money it was, and how the Greeks never got anything out of it. Even the stadium was designed by the Spanish because they said Greece had no architects! (they have only been building for about 2400 years) So now when we see something strange building wise in Greece we blame them on Hosay, the Spanish Architect. I have had two recently. One was at the Marina in Santorini, the mens toilets. The toilet itself is square (not rectangle), so if you can imagine you go into it, after you have opened the door, there is only just enough room on the right hand side to put the porcelain. So I sit on the porcelain, and I can't sit straight, because there is not enough room between the toilet bowl and the wall.'So I had to sit sideways. No locks on the doors, so if somebody had walked in I would have got a door handle on the forehead. So, Hosay the Spanish architect has been to Santorini. In Kos, again the mens toilets. There are 8 separate urinals. No else around, only me. So I pee into mine, and all 8 flush. For a country trying to save water, not a good look. Another Hosay moment!
Anyway, back to our day in Kos. After we all showered etc, we made our way down to the Cafe in the Marina for breakfast. The food was excellent. Before we went out, we needed to solve our electricity problem. Brian went to the Chandler and picked up some fittings. He then proceeded to modify another cord we had. After a couple of goes, we had a adaptor, ready to go. We plugged her in, and presto, we had power. Thank god we have a captain. Now that the yacht was operational once again, we then decided to go and catch the "Green train" which was a little rubber tyred train that showed you around the City Centre. The boys then intended catching the Blue train in the afternoon which took you to the outer part of the town, and to the ancient Acropolis outside town. The girls had already done this the previous day while waiting for us. We stopped and got the directions for the Green Train, and made our way down past the port to the bustling part of town. On the way we stopped at the port to get information for tomorrow for our trip into Turkey. We purchased the tickets for the Green Train, but had just missed the ride, so we went across the road for some cold drinks. Heather, went off to the chemist to pick up a prescription for her infected ear. Soon we boarded the train, and the little compartments took six midgets at a time, honestly by the time we all got in there we looked like professional contortionists, and no doubt could have supplemented our income at the local circus. Some serious damage was going to be done, particularly when the girls had their knees up our crutches.
