Well Cheryl and I departed Kos at 12 noon today. We had a great breakfast with the crew, and then it was time to pack the cases. The cases' waistline had grown as much' as ours. Well, it is 11pm and we have just returned from another wonderful meal at the Avanti cafe. Top meal, including drinks and sweets for $23 a head. So cheap. Today was all about seeing Kos a little closer. Cheryl and I found this great little cafe that sold English breakfasts, so we made an early start. After we finished we caught up with the others at the Marina cafe. From there we decided to hire some bikes. The ruins I saw were really good, and one in particular has some fantastic mosaics. It was built by the Romans in about 3bce. I was particularly impressed by their drainage systems. They were very sophisticated, and the clay pipes were of an amazing quality. It seems that some of the ancient buildings were flattened in an earthquake in 1953 I think.
