Day 2
My goodness me a van is not the place to be at -2 overnight. We had a dreadful night of trying to keep warm and I am sure the coffee I had yesterday was not decaf and I buzzed all night. We both had multiple toilet visits, why is it when cold your body needs to get rid of bodily fluids. I may have snarled at three am that the only warm thing about my body was the wee I had just done. Morning was eventually upon us and the air con said the temp was 1 deg, personally I think that was being optimistic. I refused to get out of bed until temp said 15, as my sister said that may be 4pm but we did get there eventually. Foggy start to morning but then to a beautiful day.
Left Gundagai by 9 as usual and headed to Holbrook for a morning coffee. Holbrook is our café of choice on our trips to Victoria, great coffee, food and clean loo. So, I did not consider we were on holidays until leaving Holbrook as we go that way so often we could do it blindfolded, not good for other motorists but you get the idea. We had to turn west from there on roads less travelled as in country roads with not much traffic. Came down thru Culcairn and then onto Rand for our lunch stop. Now who else has pork, veal and chestnut steamed dumplings with mulberry chilli sauce on the side of a river, Billabong Creek actually. Wally loved them but I forget how I made them four weeks ago so may never be reproduced again. Toddled off heading for Deniliquin thru Oaklands/Berrigan and Finlay. The weather started to cloud over but the fields of canola brightened the countryside. The one shot I got was at 80kms an hour over bumps and the horizon is crooked but still got it. Our site in Deni is a Big4 so lots of kids activities and stuff but would be gorgeous on a sparkling day, apparently the sunsets magnificent down the Edward River, oh well, one less sunset photo is okay.
We have added another and our last blankie we have to our bed and we may go to bed in trackkies and socks if I am allowed. We are both exhausted and it is only day 2. Oh well, we pop into Mexico tomorrow to Red Cliffs (only 13 km in) but that is all we do in Vic for 9 weeks or so.
Thanks Kim for your message look forward to see you guys also. Love xxxx
