Day one: Our plan was to leave around 10ish but, no, these Saunders genes mixed with Palmer blood were up and packed and out the door by 8:45 we were so organised, although it did take us 30 minutes to get to the other side of Nowra - peak hour….ercchh.
Anyway, a beautiful sunshiny (that looks like it should have an 'e' but spellcheck says no) day so on we travelled with our first stop at Goulbourn for morning tea. We know our favourite coffee spot, The Rose Café, for a piece of carrot cake, I swore I was not going to eat any bad stuff and I lasted two hours. Well, we did share a piece. Onto Bookham for lunch where we enjoyed left over yellow chicky wings (family favourite), homegrown iceberg lettuce and tomatoes with our own mandarins. We have to eat all we can in the way of fruit and veg before getting to the quarantine borders in two days' time. Lovely lunch though. Wally is not in holiday mode yet as he would not play number plates with me (making sentences out of letters) no fun at all. Onto Gundagai for our first evening at the Riverside Caravan Park - an hour walk and wander into the shops around and back again in the glorious afternoon sunlight beside the golf course and lovely old bridges.
An afternoon tipple and now starting to lock up as it is supposed to be -2 overnight. Nut case left home in t-shirt and we both gasped when getting out at Goulbourn in 11 degrees at 11am this morning…. Another erchhh hope I packed appropriately.
Oh well, first day done only 90 to go.
Love the happy gypsies xxxx
