back to bloody hot bankok now for christmas eve eve (23rd) till the 27th of december.
we left all our group members (apart from mick who we couldn't seem to shake!) and veingtai hotel in the familar surroundings of our previous trip. mick stayed with us until he had to fly out that night back to sunny old scotland! so in the meantime we had to find our new hotle which took us about 1 hour to find becasue we just walked and walked until we saw a swasadee hotel! this seemed easy enough apart from nearly every hotle along Kao San road is called swasadee!
eventually we found it, a small room with a tv an bathroom. but it was home while we stayed in Bankok. we put all our bags down and went to find some food. during this search josh decided it'll be a good idea to kick a curb as hard as he could while walking wearing nothing but flip flops! Idiot! so he had a rather large cut in his big toe, but luckily Chemist Mick was on hand! we sat down in a bar and watched a footy match and grabbed some food that tried to rip us off big time, Mick was quick to catch on and brought order! very efficient! later that evening we said our fairwells to mick and went to bed.
the next day (Xmas eve) we went in search of some culture that we missed on our first visit. so we went to seee some temples so we went to see the huge reclining Budda! it was massive and took up a whole building to itself! its spaned about 80meters i think it said and was about 2 or 3 stories high!
that night we headed to Kaosan road to look for cheep beer. eventually we were about to walk into a bar when by chance we met Laos Kirsty, so we ended up sitting down with and drinking to our hearts content. seeing as it was christmas we had the christmas spirit and if we saw anyone sitting by themselves we would ask them to join us! eventually we had a table of about 15 - 20 people! that were all "lonely Travellers" as Kirsty called us! after that we headed to some other bars and i stumbled home after losing josh! God knows how! and the next thing i remember was seeing 3 heads poking though my door screaming at me to wake up!
i thought i was being smart about leaving the key downstairs for josh who hadn't come home yet so i went to bed and stupidly put the latch across. to my amusement i was being stupid and smart at the same time! after filling joshs stocking with a can of tiger and a toothbrush i fell asleep to wake up at about 11 o clock on christmas day!
Christmas day was an unusual one! it was bloody hot and people were in shorts and shirts! we skyped home to talk to both families that gathered at josh's house! we found the next best thing to christmas dinner, a chicken steak with chips and peas! we later met up with the "Lonely Travellers" who we drank with again in the same bar and headed out to a Thai Club. this club opened all night and when i say all night im not exagerating! we stumbled back in to our hotel at 6am boxing day. Boxing day was nothing unusual, we just watched countless films on TV and napped!
the next day we jumped in a tuk tuk that had our very own driver that took us to all the famous temples of Bankok, half of them were shines nontheless but still it was great value, they were free to enter and we had payed 10Baht for this tuk tuk, about 20p! Bargain!
as new year was arriving we headed to Ko Phangan for a New year i will never forget!
