we arrived in Singapore, which was a hot country like we were used to so that didn't really bother us. it was Mid day when we arrived so we had half a day to find some accommodation. we basically walked over the border as we landed outside of Singapore to save us money. this was ok but it left us in the middle of no where.
we finally got through customs which wasn't that hard and made our way to the bus station to take us into the main area of Singapore. We were told earlier to goto either the Little China town or the Little India district. so we chose China town.
once we got off the subway we found that Little China town was basically the red light district so we got back on the subway and went back to Little India. this coincidentally was the place where we got off the bus in the first place. so we had seen the underground system even before getting to a hostel.
we found some accommodation situated in the middle of Little India. this was an Ex-Pat pub with some dorm rooms above the bar. so we also got half priced beer. Bonus! we sat round the first day thinking what we could do for the other two whole days we had left. and started talking to a girl that we met coming over the border.
after being compleatly dumbfounded by the price of food and beer we were starting to east less which became a healthy habit for later on by limiting ourselves to two meals a day and getting up late to have brunch instead of breakfast or lunch. this was a good concept. that kept us under budget.
the next day me and josh took a visit to the Singapore Bird Park which is a massive zoo for birds. it holds the worlds largest aviary with the worlds largest man made waterfall. it was pretty cool we went to a bird of prey show that had all kinds of birds of prey swooping around nearly taking your head off and watching them fly and run about.
the next day we went to Catalina island so we could see what all the fuss is about.we went quite later at night to see the shows that were on. Josh kept babelling on about some fountains that were cool so we made our way over to them only to find out that they were turned off for repair. we went on to a free shuttle to take us around the island so we got to visit some beaches and a load of restaurants that we simply couldn't afford. so we kept jumping on and off these free shuttles just to amuse ourselves. later that night we found a cool cinema screen that was projected onto jets of water that you could see from about 200 meters away.
the next morning we woke up early to get onto the dreaded subway to go the airport. then we started our flight over to Perth Australia.
