Well since it was 4am before I managed to sleep last night I didn't get up at 8.30am as I had originally planned. Ciara woke me at 8am as I had asked her too but at this time there was a thunder storm so a perfect excuse to go back to sleep :)
When I eventually woke at 10.30, the first thing on today's plans was to go back to the MSAC (Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre) for a swim. Today I managed 30 lengths and felt so good after it. On the 1st I swam 12 lengths (Now remember this was the day after Hogmanay) and on the 2nd I swam 20 lengths... See a trend here! I biked there and back too which was really fine as the temperatures had dropped right down to 26 degrees today.
My long lie had upset my plans for today, so I went back to the flat to get ready to go into the city and instead of coming back to St Kilda before the night market, I just made sure I was organised and dressed to be able to stay in the city.
I had a walk around and couldn't believe how many shops there were. I managed to get passport photos taken for my Vietnam and Thailand visas which was good, I also tried getting my insurance sorted for my broken camera but I had no luck there.
Kat wasn't going to be meeting me until 7pm at the market so I had some time to walk around myself. There was such a lovely atmosphere with live music and bars. There was everything on the stands from clothes to beauty creams to food to drink. It wasn't tacky things either, it was all expensive and good quality. There was nothing else for it to sit down for a few glasses of wine and watch the world go by while waiting for Kat :)
We both had dinner at the market, but there were so many different options of cuisine to choose from. I ended up going to the game stall and having a crocodile steak burger while Kat had a burrito. Mine was affa yummy!
As Kat had taken the car into the city, we had to leave at 8.30pm as the parking ticket had ran out. We decided to take a detour on the way home and drove the F1 Grand Prix circuit. I couldn't believe that in a few months time the actually grand prix would be taken place on these exact roads.
We ended up having a relaxing evening watching Andy Murray's match at the Brisbane tennis competition. I am also truely gutted I'm missing the Australian open by 7 days :(
I was wide awake until 2am tonight... My sleeping pattern is becoming a joke. Surely I can't still be jet lagged?!?
Anyways I am loving my time in Melbourne. It's going to be a chore to start backpacking again :) xxx
