It was fantastic to get a comfy bed with huge fluffy pillows last night, I managed to sleep really well. We had an activity talk at 8am, after breakfast, on all the things that you could do in Cape Town and then we said our goodbyes to Adrian and Chris :(
Today turned out to be a public holiday in Cape Town, which was annoying as I wanted to go to the post office and send things home by boat. Instead I took a wonder around the hotel after breakfast and re-packed my rucksack as we had to check out at 11am.
Ashanti Hostel was only 2 mins away from the hotel so Matt, Michael, Sam and I walked together and checked in. Grant, Randa and Clare were also staying at the hostel too so there was still a group of us. Phoebe and Nicole were staying with Nicole's family and Simone and Sophie were staying at the Ritz!!!
Sam and I headed down town for lunch and to copy each others photos at an Internet cafe, the photos took forever but I uploaded my first months photos onto my blog, so hopefully Mum will be able to see them. I spoke to Adam for ages on 'whatsapp' and Facebook, it was hilarious. Can't wait to see him.
Table Mountain Climb!!!
Phoebe and Nicole came to meet us at our hostel, then we headed to the bottom of Table Mountain with Sam, Simone and Sophie to start our climb :) We left it until 4.45pm before we started so it wasn't as hot. It was a beautiful climb to the top but very hard. It was really steep and we needed lots of water breaks. It was meant to take 2 hours but we did it in 1hr 30mins. Yay we survived it... just! It really was spectacular at the top, we had tea in the cafe and then watched the sunset at 8.22pm. It was the most amazing sunset I have seen on this trip. We then took the cable car back to the bottom before getting taxis back to the hostel.
I was so glad I climbed it, it felt so good when you reached the top and it's been a while since we have done any exercise (well except from the dune climb).
Randa and Clare had been on a full day winery tour today so when we got back to the hostel, they had wine, cheese, bread and olives all layed out on a table in the balcony of the hostel for us. It was so nice, it was Randas last night as she flys to Turkey tomorrow to meet her sister.
In between drinking wine and having more cheese, I managed to shower and get ready for going out in Cape Town! ATC truck also arrived into Cape Town today and surprisingly they were all staying at Ashanti, therefore there was loads of us out. It was so busy in Long Street, all the pubs and clubs were packed as this is peak season for Cape Town. Lots of South Africans and tourists head at this time of year, and you can tell this as its such a party/holiday atmosphere. We stayed in one pub all night, and headed back at 1ish to the hostel as I was shattered.
It was a great night and Cape Town is still the funkiest city ever! I would easily come back here. xxx
