Another normal 5.30am alarm before we made the transit through to Swako!!! We were all excited about hitting Swako for a good night out and some civilisation!
I slept most of the morning on the truck, the motion just puts me straight to sleep even though I get thrown about everywhere with the bumps.
Today was one of the shortest days in the truck, and we arrived in Swakopmund before lunch. We went to the activities centre first where they showed us a dvd of all the activities that were available etc. We then had sandwiches for lunch while we decided how we were gonna spend our time in the afternoon and all day tomorrow. Since I had already been sky diving and sand boarding both twice, and we have a quad bike at home, I decided to pass on all the adrenaline activities and just book in for the Township Tour tomorrow afternoon.
We were in an actual hostel for 2 nights, all 15 of the group were in one dorm so it was good fun and a really nice hostel. After we had checked into the accommodation, 8 of the group all went sky diving!
Randa, Simone, Sam and I went for a walk down into the town. My cheap flip flops broke this morning :( so I needed to find a new pair. We went round the shops and to a local market which sold some fantastic souvenirs. We didn't have long because we wanted to be back to the dorm before the others came back from their sky diving so we could shower and get ready first :)
I got ready quite early and managed to spend an hour on the Internet at the bar before going out. It was really slow and struggled to get anything booked that I needed too.
Anyways everyone came back from their jumps as high as kites, Phoebe's face had the biggest grin it was brilliant and all their energy rubbed off on me too. We were hyper and ready to party. After watching everyone's DVD's of their jumps we headed to an Italian restaurant for a group tea as Chris had booked a table for us.
This is where it all just got better and better. I ordered Springbok Medallions (Namibia's national animal) which was gorgeous. The menu was so big it was impossible to choose something but I went with Chris's recommendation.
While we waited for our meals a few of us went to the bar which was part of the restaurant. I was hyper and on top form, there were ciders, vodkas, loads of jägerbombs, countless caramel vodkas and KARAOKE!!! Our group weren't away from the mic after our meal. We were singing The Gambler, 500 miles, Summer of 69, Living on a Prayer and loads more.
The ATC truck were in Swako at the same time so Sarah, John and Allyhandro were with us too, which was ace fun. We were still in the club at 4.30am when we thought it was time to head back. I had been ready to leave at 4am but because it's not save to walk yourself at night, I had to wait until someone else was ready to leave.
Clare, Randa and I walked up the road first then Grant, Mike, Matt and Sam were 5 minutes behind us. We got back to the dorm and we woke everyone up... by accident! We stood outside chatting first then all went and sat on Randas bunk! Sam got very protective of everyone tonight and the group seemed to get a bit annoyed. It was funny at the time. Grant and I were the last two awake at 6.30am chatting, Ulrik was one of the older men in the group and he got up at 6am for his shower!!!!! We were still awake and hadn't been to sleep yet! Whoooopsy!
An absolute blast of a night in Swako, now roll on Cape Town next weekend! xxx
P.S. The weirdest thing happened in the club tonight, some guy came up to me that new my name and started chatting. I wasn't very impressed to start with but it turned out to be the pilot that Nicole and I were speaking to in Joe's Beerhouse in Windhoek for ages! Africas a small place! I still haven't met a fellow Scot's on my travels yet and I've been away for close to 2 months!!!
11 Sleeps till I see Adz though xxx
