I felt aaaamaaaazing this morning! Slept like a log last night with the rain. I didnt even hear Phoebe come back to the tent. It wasn't fun taking down a soaking wet tent this morning but all the mongooses and guinie foul running around you made it fun.
When we drove out of the campsite we saw loads of animals from the truck, coke heartbeasts, oryx, warthogs etc. We continued to head north to Etosha National Park, we stopped for an hour at a huge Spar for Chris to get food supplies for the next few days.
We stocked up on alcohol for the evening came drives in the next couple of days. £1 for a big bottle of smirnoff ice! How could you go wrong?!?
My blog is really starting to become a huge pest and more of a problem than ever! The application crashed again this morning causing me to loose two more days of writing. When we stopped at the Spar the Wimpy had free wifi so managed to upload some of the days that hadn't disappeared and I redownloaded the app again. I would be so happy to actually have it all sorted and up todate!
We entered the gates of Etosha National Park at 12.30pm and then the game drive started. We saw giraffes up close and black faced impalas that are only ever seen in this national park. The park is 23000 square kilometres with a salt pan taking up a third of the park. It used to be the biggest National Park in the world until it went down to a quarter of its size when the Germans came in.
We headed straight for our campsite to have lunch and set up camp before going out on an afternoon game drive at 3pm.
The game drive was brilliant fun, and the smirnoff ices went down a treat. I was hyper for the whole 2 hours and slightly tipsy too! It was a lovely game drive and saw loads of different animals.
The evening was spent around the campfire having tea and then toasting marshmallows. We went up to the bar which turned out to be closed. I decided for some reason I wanted to be in touch with Africa and ended up not wearing any flip flops the whole night - Randa also did the same so we thought we were proper Africans now, because none of them actually wear any shoes.
There was another GAP truck at the campsite tonight too, they were doing the opposite route from us and going from Cape Town to Nairobi. Their truck made our truck and equipment look 5 star. We really have been lucky with our group, guides, drivers and equipment. The other group didn't look much fun at all.
I ended up chatting to Adrian for a good hour before heading to bed. Randa, Phoebe, Clare and I were the last to leave the truck and it turned out to be well after midnight!!
A really fun night drinking around the 'bush tv'. xxx
