I didn't feel myself when I woke this morning, really could have been doing with an extra hours sleep. We were up and on the road at 7am though, for a full days game drive!
I really wasn't myself and ended up sleeping on the truck all morning, waking now and again to see herds of lions etc. which didn't even excite me. I felt really weak and just wanted to sleep and sleep.
We had lunch at our new campsite which was still in Etosha National Park but west of where we stayed last night.
Today was much hotter and someone said it was into the 40's at the heat of the day. We had till 4pm until the sunset game drive started. I managed to eat lunch but I still felt awful, we all then went up to the pool at the campsite to chill for the afternoon. I went for a swim to cool down and then ended up falling asleep again on a sun lounger in the shade. When I woke I still felt awful and tried to drink as much water as I could.
Clare and I decided not to go on the sunset game drive, I wasn't feeling up for sitting in the truck for another 4 hours. We went back to the pool side and chatted, while everyone else went on the drive. It was nice to get some quiet time when I felt so rubbish.
This campsite is lovely, with 3 amazing swimming pools, a posh restaurant, a bar and a watering hole that you can sit and watch animals in the evening. The other GAP tour that we met last night said they saw a leopard when they were here 2 nights ago.
I'm starting to feel a bit better and I'm making myself stay awake so I can hopefully sleep tonight. We stayed at the pool until the sun went down at 6.30pm and then headed for the showers. We could here the thunder in the distance so decided to close the window flaps on all the tents incase it started to rain, and by the time we came out of the shower there was a crazy 20 minute rain storm with high winds.
When the group came back they were all so thankful we had closed up the tents, lucky for everyone that Clare and I stayed behind. Thankfully they didn't see any animals on the game drive that we hadn't already seen, and by the time they came back I was feeling much better. I had a shower, drank 3 litres of water and had a hydration drink too.
After tea, we went for a walk down to the watering hole on the campsite but due to all the rain in the last couple of hours there were only zebras that could be seen! Adrian said he has seen every type of animal possible in the park at some stage at this watering hole.
We didn't stay long and we headed to the bar for a while, it was a lovely complex and some parts looked more like a hotel. I had my cup of tea while others had beers!!! It was lovely sitting chatting while black jackals were wondering about scavenging for food, it's amazing how close they come to you. They look just like foxes to me. We were totally swamped by beasties tonight too, they were huge and would just come and attach themselves to you.
Anyways half 10 and I'm curled up in my sleeping bag, fingers crossed I manage to sleep after sleeping alllllll day! xxx
