Last night i was so annoyed, i couldnt find one place in this city that was showing the football. Everybody looked at me as if i was from Mars when i said the words 'FA Cup Final?' 'Manchester United?' 'Chelsea?' even the word 'Football?!' And there was me thinking that the Japanese and Koreans were well into football and Man Utd. That phase obviously ended rapidly, and became history the day Beckham left. A well, so to my dismay, reception was closed so I couldnt get any headphones, and so i couldnt even listen to Five Live on the internet or watch it on BBC ! So i had to make do with last resort - Automated (supposedly) live updates which were running about 15mins slow! Gutted. Until some guy found the match on our TV - although the commentary was in Japanese! Result! Or not so much, as the bloody rent boys beat us 1-0 in Extra Time!! only 4 mins to go!!! Grrr I hate Drogba! And why wasnt Giggs' goal allowed? I dont care if he pushed Cech into the net, the ball was over the line! haha. So anyway the match was like watching paint dry, a real disappointment to the opening of Wembley! And no red cards?!? Tres unusual in a cup final! A well we still won the league! Im still giddy about that! <giggles>
Today we got up and got the subway to Ueno - another nearby part of Tokyo. The underground was absolutely heaving and sooo hot i thought i was gonna pass out! There was just millions of people everywhere! The weather was glorious today, not a single cloud in the sky, and really warm! We looked around the markets, there was lots of meat and fish and random things being cooked. Wegot to the Tokyo Museum, but we thought it was just too expensive for our budget to go in, so we just got an ice-cream and walked around the park gardens in the sun instead. Then late afternoon, we got the subway back to Asakusa and because today is the last of the temple festivities, again there were people EVERYWHERE. The roads were blocked off as the shrines were being carried down the streets one last time and the atmosphere was immense! It took us about an hour to get from the metrolink to our hostel dodging between people and cameras! Then we dumped off our bags and came to the main bit of the annex, and came online where i got to chat with Pete for a while! Yay! :) :) :) so that was brilliant! And now we'll either just chill infront of the TV or head down to Bar Smile and get our free drink, then home to bed for an early start tomorrow.
