Fraser Island has got to be my favourite trip yet. We spent the 3 day trip off roading in 4x4s around the island visiting some really beautiful places.
We were put into groups of 8 for our cars and took it in turns to drive. We let the guys do the hard driving and us girls drove on the beach.
Our first day involved visiting 'champagne pools' which were pools made by the sea as waves crashed over rocks and made bubbles (hence the name champagne). It was pretty cold but also refreshing in the heat. We also spent some time setting up camp- Lucy and I had a tent to ourselves which was nice. However, what wasn't so nice was that the camp lacked showers and toilets! We spent the evening cooking a stir fry in our groups. It is surprisingly hard to cook in such a small area with no tables and very little utensils! The food was good, and spent the night getting to know everyone in the camp by playing games and having a few drinks.
The other days we visited some other great places. We drove an hour inland to visit lake Mckenzie which was beautiful, and floated down a lazy river in the sun. The second night was very similar to the first, we cooked steak this time and had a few drinks with everyone.
By the last day. I was desperate for a shower! We packed up our camp and visited a beautiful pool which has been formed by the wind blowing the sand over the sea. To get to the pool of water, there was a very steep sand dune which was really fun to run down.
Not only was Fraser Island a beautiful place, we met some really great people along the way, and will hopefully see then again down the east coast!
