Byron bay has got to be one of the most alternative places I have ever visited, bit I loved it.
It's such a chilled out town with a lovely beach, shops and bars. We spent our time there sunbathing on the beach, eating out and visiting the famous lighthouse of Cape Byron. This was the most easterly point if Australia, and had some beautiful views, however it is a pretty hard walk in the blazing sun with a hangover!
We managed to catch up with some friends we had met along the way which was great, and we also visited the nearby town of 'Nimbin'. Nimbin was founded in the 70s after a festival was held nearby, and nobody ever left! No one wears shoes and it's full of hippies!
If anything, I wish we had stayed longer in Byron bay, it's a great town, very similar to queenstown in New Zealand. Hopefully one day il be back!
