We had heard some really bad reviews about Brisbane, so we weren't really expecting much from it. We were surprised to see how nice it really was.
The river splits the city into two, in my mind it was very similar to London.
Our first day in Brisbane, we got the bus to australua zoo. It was good to see all of the oz animals up close. I got to feed kangaroos, and pet koalas, my day was made! I'm pretty gutted that I still haven't managed to see a platypus though! Another highlight of the day was seeing the croc show, I didn't realise how big they really are a and how slow they are when out of the water. Lucy and I also prepared a picnic for us all which was pretty good.
The other days we spent in Brisbane involved a lot of exploring. We caught a free boat along the river to the city and wandered around the shops and through the squares. We popped into the city hall museum and learnt a lot about what Brisbane was famous for (the river, the art and the parades). We also spontaneously booked some tickets to see Chitty Chitty bang bang in the QPAC at South bank. It was so funny to see how the English were perceived, and a nice way to spend our evening.
Today, our last morning in the city, we walked to South Bank and had breakfast at Max Brenners chocolate bar. I had strawberries in melted chocolate with a fruit smoothie which was incredible!
I would definitely recommend people to visit the city of Brisbane, it's a lovely city with a nice atmosphere.
