Today we are leaving Manaus to catch the boat to Belem, we were scheduled to leave at 12 but in true Brazilian style we left at 3.30pm. We have booked a cabin which is classed as 1st so are being treated like royalty. Woke this morning after a very good nights sleep- hammocks are very comfortable. We had eggs and secondhand marijuana smoke for breakfast and then set off for the beach. Did not sleep much last night as there was a huge storm and it felt like the raft was going to sink! We have arrived in the jungle. Travelled by boat to our lodge which is a duel purpose hut. During the dry season it is a hut in the jungle. During the current wet season it is a floating hut on the Rio Negro as the river covers the forest. It is pretty amazing even though there's no electric.
