Lots has happened since our last blog entry, internet coverage has been very poor in Madagascar! From ramanafana we moved onto a private eco reserve where the accommodation was very basic, wood cabins with shared long drop toilets and electric for two hours a day. Run by Daniel a malagese wildlife enthusiast, he introduces us to his tamed white bellied lemur and shows us the nocturnal mouse lemurs (very cute) and chameleons that live around the lodge. Here we are sat outside a restaurant in the warm climate of the Madagascar rainforest. We continue to search for lemurs and enjoy the Madagascar country and people. The people are very friendly saying "salami" (well that's what it sounds like) to greet everyone they meet. They always smile or laugh when we use this greeting too. We left Fort Dauphin after a night out with Nessa, Jess, Dan, Tsiraiky and Hoby who we had had a great time working with over the last 2 weeks, very sad to say goodbye, After we checked in for our flight to Tulear we found out that we had been upgraded to business class! Well we're back to internet coverage after two weeks in the bush and what an experience it was. We lived with three other Brits, two researchers, one other volunteer. And two azafady guides, Malagasy men, and two Malagasy cooks. They were all so knowledgeable and helpful. Spent our time doing research in the small remaining parts of the forest in the area. Today we flew from Antanariva to Fort Dauphin a one hour flight on an airline banned from Europe.. All went well. Taxi collected us and took us to the right hotel! A small complex of bungalows on the beach at shipwreck bay. Very nice in an African way.....moscito nets, hot and cold water and a good supply of cold beer. And, WiFi!!!
