We finally arrived in Ho Chi Minh City, collected our bags and passed through customs/immigration then found our driver to take us to the hotel, the Duxton Hotel.
The drive from the airport was a real eye-opener with cars, buses and mainly motorbikes weaving all over the place, it was chaos and kept us entertained as we drove to the hotel. After arriving at the hotel we checked in, dropped our bags and went down to concierge to get some directions to a supermarket to buy some supplies. There was a decent supermarket a short distance from the hotel which had everything we needed and the prices were insanely cheap.
We returned to the hotel and then went down to concierge for some restaurant suggestions for dinner and to book a couple of tours, one to the Mekong Delta and another half-day trip to the Cu Chi Tunnels.
For dinner we decided to go to a place called Quan an Ngon which had good reviews so went out walking to find it. We stumbled across another place with a similar name called Nga Hang Ngon which we thought was the place we wee looking for until we saw the lable on the refresher towels they gave us. The food was good, the service was great and the prices again really cheap.
After dinner we walked back to the hotel for a much needed shower and an early night after the flight here overnight.
