We arrived into Dubai after doing a couple of figure 8's over Oman and circles around the airport as our flight arrived a bit early.
Our gate was at the very end of the terminal so long walk to the immigration and baggage claim. T had to get a photo taken at immigration and the guy from immigration kept asking him to open his eyes for the photo despite telling him that his eyes were as wide open as they can possibly be after 20 odd hours without sleep. Our bags arrived safely also and after walking through customs without any problems we found the driver to take us to our hotel. The driver had two speeds, stopped and foot flat to the floor which meant we didn't take long to get to our hotel, Pullman Deira City Centre.
We went to check in at the hotel and as seems to be the case for us they tried to tell us they did not have the room type available that we had confirmed and tried to get us to accept a twin room and that we'd get a king bed for the remaining nights. We told them that that was not ideal as we'd waste a day checking out the next morning and then checking in to the king room that afternoon. They then offered to push the twin beds together for the remaining nights which we politely declined. In the end we were offered a free upgrade to a junior suite with a king bed and a balcony which we accepted! The balcony had a great view over the Sheraton golf course, Dubai creek and down to the Burj Khalifa, the tallest building in the world. We finally got to bed around 1.30am and both crashed.
