The last entry is always the hardest to do, but yup this is the last one of this lil adventure sorry it took so long to get posted.
All good things sadly must come to and end as did this trip. It's time to head home...again. I planned it well I think.... I got an early afternoon departure direct to Toronto a quick layover and off home from there....if all goes well that is. This translates into a lonnnng day....I get into Edmonton in the early evening...and I should be beat, because I am not going to sleep on the plane, I should be able to sleep a good solid night if all goes well once I am home.
So I managed to have a good last night sleep in Barcelona and once I was up I packed up early and had time to head to a lil cafe I know on the corner...me last street cafe in Spain..for a while. Had a great croissant with me cafe con leche...and was able to sit with the locals for a bit. Seemed to be a hangout for them before going to work. But alas was time to go. Got me bags and the taxi I arranged was right on time...off to the airport with Mario Andretti at the wheel. This guy must have been a race driver in a previous life because he was flying....and I wasn't in a rush at all lol. I just hung on for the ride. We made it and and after a quick check in I was surprised there was no priority lane for the security....and what a line it was....that is weird.
Either way the line seemed to move fast as they are not psychotic here in the security department. So it was like a long walk and poof I spat out the other end...off to the lounge....grabbed some pastries and some drinks and MotoGP 4 races were on tv to watch...the young guys really ride hard here that is for sure. These kids have no fear.... the next Rossi's....Lorezo's....Marquez's...
Decided to hit the gate and no drama at all... I for once had a seat in the middle...no windows..Its 2-2-2 on the rouge and I settled in. This time I was in row 2 so I had no bulkhead and had a lot more leg room so have to say the flight was looking good so far. I thought I had an empty seat next to me but the last guy on the plane....I suspect the largest also...got into the seat or shoe horned into the seat next...I think his ride is not gunna be fun. He was not the talkative type....so I decided I shall stick to myself and tinker for the flight. They gave me my ipod...and its got some neat games on it. There is a cool one where you toss steel balls to break glass objects as you head to them. The stewardess stopped me and said she had the highest score I got 9 hrs to beat her....a challenge.
With that we were off....I caught a glimpse of the city as we banked... 9 hours of tinkering is a longgggg time. I managed to drain the Johnny Walker on the plane (no rum sighh)....got to know the head stewardess again real well. She was pretty funny and wanted to chat...that killed some time. Movie...watched Spy...was laughing out loud....and was seriously wobbly in my seat by then. The food was really good again. So I am kinda impressed by rouge so far even though I heard a lot of complaints.
Nine hours ta ponder.....so I got to reflect on me lil trip. I was hesitant to take the trip the way I did as I am normally a bit of a lone wolf when it comes to exploring. I have seen some amazing things that way and have met some great people also. So I was hesitant to pull the trigger on the group bike tour thing. The only thing that convinced me other than it was convenient...was the testimonials of the folks I met at the rally at Billings. Well....when it was all said and done like it is now...wow. It surpassed my expectations by a lot.
I got lucky with the group for the most part and Martin and Roger really made a great effort to make sure we got what we wanted out of it. I had some of the best riding I have had for a long time with those two. Chasing the hare is a hoot on those roads. The roads we took were amazing and the Pyrenees as spectacular as I knew...hence the trip. Right from the moment Martin met me at the airport I got a good vibe and it carried through the whole trip. It was a short one but it seemed long so I am deducing that I must have been having a good one then. I had not seen GS ridden that well either, I just see them here with the dude all geared up riding vertical almost all the time. Both Martin and Roger knew how to toss it around, so much so I had to take one for a bit of a rip. On the last day I rid Rogers on some twisty stuff, lil too much traffic to go crazy but I got a taste and have to say, It is very nimble. Easier to flick in the corners on the front end than the RT. Hmmmmmm I had a grin on when I got off it so that must mean something. I kinda hoped it would suck but no such luck. I must stay out of the bike shop for a bit after I get back.
So to sum it up wowwwww...... the tour was awesome. I had a blast with the whole thing. Spain is such an amazing country full of history and culture and amazing roads to ride on. True we did wonder into France for a bit but not too long and only long enough it seems to sort out where the next cafe we would stop at was in Spain. The food is to die for....so are the local wines. Just wandering around Barcelona....cafes everywhere....each with a neat menu of its own. Coffee back home is going to be tough for a while. I may have to do another tour with IMT, they really impressed me. I would only fear that it was so good how could the next one live up to the expectations set. I've a few months to ponder.......an no flights booked as of yet.
This was my last kick at holidays for the year its going to be a long dry spell till Christmas. Well I hope I didn't bore the heck out of ya and thanks for sticking it out. Until me next adventure.......Hasta Luego!!
