G'day Mates!!!!
Well enough is enough. Time for me to drivel in electronic print once again. Seems I am tired of winter and its time for some sun and I think I planned this about right..... cept... its nice outside here in Edmonton. I hate leaving on adventures when its nice out here....it should be -30 out or something like that...just doesn't feel right.
So, again rum and a laptop were combined one evening..... and long story short.....seems I am going to Aussieland. Perhaps the cover pic gave it away for you sharp ones. I in my foggy state managed to find a flight to Sydney and a bike (an RT of course) all from the comfort of me couch and at no time did I spill. So....time to go for a walkabout Aussie style....it would seem. Not been there as of yet and am looking forward to it. I really want to see a toilet flush the other way....seems so not natural. I also have heard Koala bears got a mean streak a mile wide...the cuteness is a trap....so I've heard....either way, I check off a few more boxes off the bucket list.
How did we ever travel before the internet. Whilst not in me best presence of mind I managed to get a great seat (not so great in the end long story) and a good deal on a bike all from the couch and not so sober. Once that was done I was corresponding with Christian (my new Aussie pen pal who is trusting me with the keys of the Beemer) since he knew my itinerary if he could suggest a route. Seems they do tours too. Not my style....upon which he suggested a self tour.
I was planning on going north up the gold coast he said no, go south instead. In the end he planned an itinerary and fired it my way, it looked really good. So I gave the nod and he set up the whole tour I technically only need to show up and have a pulse. Christian, my new pen pal from down under set me up with google map routes and booked all me hotels and will save me from scratching my head in the morning. A first for me. I normally do the as the wind blows kinda thing and so far its worked. I have high hopes as I in theory have nothing to worry about and technically not much to think about either. I went online at the Aussie embassy and paid me twenty aussie bucks and got me ETA (Visa) and should be good to go...least that is what the email says.
So this trip was sort of sneaking up on me. So was the cold from Satan's residence. It sort of nailed me with a slow burn peaking last Saturday...I was a little worried but was sort of glad I got it when I did. Least I had a chance to get over it before my first flight on Tuesday and I am safe for now bwah hah haaaa. Feeling pretty good today except for the no sleep thing (got none last night), no idea why.
The cold thing caused me to be a bit lapse in the packing thing but I still got it done in a bit of advance so was not running around too bad and can report that this is the least stuff I have ever taken should be interesting to see if I need to make a panic stop at Wallmart...err Walibyworld....or whatever the equiv is down under. Packing for a bike trip you are picking up is a toughie.
Me lucky charm Andy picked me up to toss me off at the airport at the prearranged time (Nucho Gracious Amigo!!) and Zoe gets to go on a holiday.
So lil tip.....when booking flights of long duration make sure you know all the legs. The one I booked said Edmonton->Toronto->Sydney. Seems when you actually find out what it acutally is it is Edmonton->Toronto->Vancouver->Sydney. Yup I am travelling across the country for nada....and they could not change it for me by the time I found out...sigh. I however have accepted me fate and shall eat the food and partake in the beverages they will be forcing upon me and get to see a lot of Canada in a day.... well next stop......Toranna....yay.....not...big plus is I am travelling in style...seems I got the golden ticket....but nothing is for free.
Whilst awaiting in the lounge (which the bar was still closed..(not right was noon somewhere...) I learned from some Japanese gentlemen that foot baths in hot milk is a good thing...they also use wine sometimes. I seem to be leading a sheltered life. Least that is what I got from the broken english.
Gotta run...me chariot awaits. Hope I don't bore y'all if ya stick it out.
