How bout this as a new movie title? The Spoons of the Caribbean... That's a bestseller right there! One of the islands in the Tobago Keys is actually the location from one of the Pirates in the Caribbean movies. Pretty easy to recognize it, it's the flat and sandy one with few palmtrees where Johnny Depp is dropped off, abandoned and passing time by getting wasted on rum.
This weekend we went fishing with an older Canadian couple, with didn't catch anything... Luckily the man said as fishing is not about catching, it's about fishing. If it would be about catching it would be called catching, not fishing... Makes sense!? We've become extraordinary good on leeching on old people, but hey... we do it with style! Ninjastyle! (Yes, again...) The Canadian couple was actually ex-Americans, but they haven't paid taxes to the IRS for 50 years... Don't worry tho, their secret is safe with us, we're just blogging about it, so don't tell anyone.
We had a fun experience recently with a distinctive meal called conch kebab... Conch doesn't have to good of a taste, and we're debating on wether or not the conch will appear in the opposite side of our body and in what format... But as they say in ancient Egypt: The one who gets carried by a conch sticking out of his rear, shall be king! Don't eat conch guys, just don't...
We've been idling at Union Island now for 10 days now, way longer than planned. Well, actually visiting the Grenadines wasn't planned at all. We've been having such a good time on the island so we're not to fond of leaving this place... Y'day we went out with a local guy called Lee on a sailtrip around the nearby islands; Mayreau, Tobago Keys and Palm Island. Sailing on a piratelike schooner, sleeping in the net hanging in front of the boat is both awesome, smooth and relaxing. We were even provided with fantastic entertainment in form of an 79 year old English man who got a bit excited after drinking to much rum 'n punch. He was asking us roughly 10 times where we were from, how we got here and where he was. Completly obvlivious to anything he was being told, but sincerly interested and really surprised everytime he kept on going. The moment was when he asked our captain why he wasn't driving the boat. Well... we're anchored the captain replied... Oh really? But where are we? "We are in the Tobago Keys..." Wow, that's far from home, but where am I? At this point his wife returned from snorkling and where he was truly astonished by her appearance: But hello dear, are you here as well? How lovely!!! Laugh of the day... Then he dozed off...
We finally had our first kitesession today and d*mn... Kiting is AWESOME! Having more or less never kited before (one spoon had some experience) we were excited like eager little beavers to get started. After some a quick introduction we tried to stear the kite and as awkward it might have looked we felt like professionals. Sh*t... we're good at this! Highlights followed one after another and we couldn't stop giggling. Few liters of saltwater later it was time to bodydrag back to the beach, one spoon was hooked to the kite and our lovely instructor and the other spoons hold on to his back... Here we gooooo... Pooow... Flying through the water, spoons and instructors scattering everywhere... Weeeee!!! Suddenly the instructor and the one spoon let go of the other spoon who was launched several meters through the air, giggling all the way and drinking some more Atlantic Ocean on touchdown, man... what a rush! Kitsurfing made our day... Hopefully we're on the board tomorrow!
Seriously... just think about it... The Spoons of the Caribbean, it sounds good doesn't it? We're not letting go of the Caribbean quite yet, so the next time you hear from us we're prolly popped up on another islandparadise, with or with out conch sticking out from behind!
