Have you ever spent the 17th of May in the top of a tree? Two spoons has done it! And in the top of a tree, there´s not too many things to do, other than to stalk monkeys, play cards and drink! There´s also another secret activity, but it´s so secret not even this blog can reveal it. When u´ve played cards for 30 consecutive hours however, it actually becomes a bit boring. This is where the monkeys comes in handy. We´ve now learnt the hard way never to chase monkeys, at least not when they jump from one tree to another.
It was a couple of nice days in the treetop, refreshing... Lets call it rehab. One of the spoons had prior to the visit fallen deadly ill, and noone truly expected him to make it. But my god, the time of miracles isnt´t over, and the weak spoon made a surprisingly strong comeback.
After the treehouse we took a shuttle to Léon, and extremly hot and fairly unpleasant, but still beautiful city. Often in hard competition with Granada of becoming Nica´s biggest attraction. We would say none of them are, unless you are freakishly taken by blazing sun and old colonial architecture. At this point we were still traveling with an awesome bunch of silky smooth Canadians and a couple of Snippins. Sniiiippiiiiin! That meant pool-party and big nightout in Léon!
At the moment we´re in El Tunco, El Salvador. We arrived late last night after a hellish busride from Léon. We saved 10 dollars on taking an old, hot, crowded schoolbus for 14 hours with a bunch of smelly locals, instead of a nice, air-conditioned and fast Tica Bus... Success!! And as proper experienced backpackers we got on the bus without water, without food and without money... U gotta love the spoons!
San Salvador seemed a bit dodgy, a lot of not-so-much trustworthy people and tons of armed police, military and security guards. Evidentally everyone is allowed to carry weapons in El Salvador, and that just makes a spoon feel oh so safe! San Salvador was no place to stay, and after several attempts we managed to get on a bus down here to the coast. Trust us, it´s not easy to jump on a bus, full speed, with all yer gear on. Specially when u have another fat spoon blocking yer way.
From El Tunco the spoons will prolly come to another fork in the road. Another rough break-up. One spoon will head up to Honduras to be explordinary, and the other spoon will settle down and become a professional surfer.
We realized that we´re soon flying home, so in a desperate last effort to prolong our stay, we paid off the bankrupt country of Iceland to have another volcano eruption. Let´s just see how that´s gonna work...
Donations to our joint PayPal account is still rudely accepted. Go to www.moneyforspoons.com. We´re tired of having to spoon random people for money. We feel molested... Save a spoon today!
